This year’s British Cardiovascular Society Annual Scientific Conference will be in Manchester between 2 – 4 June, inclusive. The Programme Committee have made a number of changes in response to feedback received from members and industry.
The first and perhaps most obvious is that the conference has been put into three full days, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – there are no half days at the beginning and the end. The committee hope that this will help those wishing to attend a good proportion of the conference.
This year will see the return of the posters. The majority of abstracts will be presented in this format. Poster sessions will occur at the end of Monday and Tuesday. Those attending will be able to get a free glass of wine which it is hoped will stimulate discussion of the posters! Moderated posters will continue. Where there are abstracts that can be grouped together, by virtue of a common theme, this will be done and these will be oral presentations with an introductory overview talk on the subject.
Another new innovation is that there is a meeting within a meeting. BSCR will hold their Annual Conference on Monday and Tuesday. We hope this continues in future years with different affiliated groups.
Interactive voting systems were viewed as a success last year and these will be extended to two rooms in the conference centre. This year we are going to trial web casting of the major plenaries.
