British Cardiovascular Society twins with California Chapter ACC
The signing ceremony to Commemorate the Twinning of the British Cardiovascular Society with the California Chapter of the American College Cardiology took place on 29 March 2009. This is the first twinning of an ACC chapter with an National Society.
As part of the twinning agreement, the ACC California Chapter will
offer 3 preceptorships plus free places on courses/conferences listed below.
Preceptorships will be
provided free of charge to BCS members who will be individually responsible for
travel, accommodation and living expenses.
Mini-preceptorships
on Cardiac Imaging modalities that allow visitors from BCS to observe all
aspects of cardiac imaging at specific medical groups in California including:
A
one week cardiac imaging preceptorship with Dr. Daniel Berman,
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. Visitors from BCS would be
able to observe all aspects of cardiac imaging within the medical group
A
one week Cardiac CT preceptorship at the Cardiovascular Medical Group of
Southern California with Dr. Ronald Karlsberg.
Note:
Visits will require advance registration and
current PPD or chest x-ray status
Preceptorship
at UC Davis, for a U.K. cardiologist to spend 1-4 weeks at Davis with Bill
Bommer.

They usually cannot do procedures, unless they
have a CA license.
All applications for preceptorships
should be submitted to Fiona Philpott (mailto:pittsml@bcs.com) by 31 May 2012. The winning candidates will be
informed by June 2011 and it is expected that the winning candidates will take
up their preceptorship within 12 months of acceptance in discussion with the
institution.
All applications will be
required to include a CV and a statement of why they wish to undertake the
preceptorship. Winning candidates will be required to write a report for use in
BCS and CA chapter newsletters/websites.
